If only movies were real...

For many women, the ideal man is not found in reality, but rather in many popular movies or "chick flicks." So here are a few examples of leading men and how they make women everywhere swoon.

1. Noah Calhoun from The Notebook

Why are women attracted to this character? Because he knows how to treat a lady! Noah wants to date a girl he doesn't even know named Allie. He is so determined to get her attention that he even hangs on the outside of a Ferris wheel until she agrees to go out with him. He pursues her, letting her know that she is special and valued by him. Noah is willing to do anything for Allie, he even considers movie to the town where she is attending college. The famous quote "If you're a bird, I'm a bird." represents how much he loves Allie, whatever she is he is and where ever she is, there he will be. Although Noah can't accompany Allie to college, he writes to her every day for a whole year. Now that's commitment. After many years of marriage and growing old, Allie develops Alzheimer's and Noah spends the rest of his life by her side, trying desperately to help her regain her memory. Noah is the type of guy who knows what he wants and won't quit until he gets it. This determination in love and relationships is a characteristic many women appreciate and strive to find in boyfriend or husband.

2. Gerry from P.S. I Love You

Once again this character is a man who knows how to treat a lady. With a personality full of humor and charm, not to mention good looks, what more is there to ask for? How about love that continues after death? Gerry was so dedicated to his wife Holly and completely concerned with her happiness and well being. Before his death, due to cancer, Gerry writes multiple letters, creates recording, and organizes deliveries of cakes and plane tickets to be given to Holly after his passing. Gerry wants to make Holly's life transition easier by encouraging her and through the letters, creating an outgoing persona in her much like his own. He helps her to move on from him and live the rest of her life. He loved her so much that he was with her spiritually without being present physically. Gerry is quite the romantic and is extremely thoughtful, another characteristic women find attractive.

3. Jack from Titanic

This popular character is also know for being romantic and treating a lady right. Jack meets his love interest Rose, aboard the Titanic, where she is considering jumping into the Atlantic to commit suicide. Jack saves her from jumping and from the superficial and wealthy life she is forced to live. Jack presents a selfless love. He wants Rose to experience the great and simple things in life. He knows what it's like to live a hard life and wants better for Rose. He risks everything for her, even his life: a display of true love.

Prince Charming

So the last few posts have been dedicated to explaining how not to treat a girl. Since the blog's title is "How to Treat a Girl 101," I figured I should make a post about what girls love instead of what they hate.

1. Girls like funny guys.

We want guys to make us laugh and smile. Humor is a perfect way to open a line of communication with a girl and it shows self confidence.

2. Sweet and sincere.

Its common sense that a girl would be more attracted to a nice guy than a guy that treats her like crap. I mentioned in another post that girls want a guy to pay attention to them. For example: doing something out of the blue. Sending a sweet text lets a girl know that she is on your mind. Calling a girl beautiful instead of hot or sexy also scores major brownie points.

3. Take initiative.

Most girls enjoy when a guy steps up and makes decisions. From making the first move to deciding what to do for a date, guys that control the situation are very attractive. This section is pretty self explanatory.

These three basic points are quite possibly the most important if you plan on becoming a girl's prince charming.

Don't Be A Playa

When dating, most guys decide to "play the field." At a young age it is ok to date different people to learn what you are looking for in a potential girlfriend but there is a thin line between dating and being a player. The official definition of a player is "a person who pursues a number of different social partners simultaneously." For girls the definition of a player is a jerk that messes with their emotions. A Player attempts to play the field but goes about it the wrong way. Instead of being honest with the girls he dates about his plans for no commitment, he lies and doesn't mention the other girls he is interested in. This situation proves problematic for both the player and girls involved. The girls think that the boy is interested in them alone and are unaware of the others. The guy has to keep up with multiple relationships in hopes that none of the girls find out about the others. Unfortunately, many guys don't think this complicated situation through. Often times the guy will say the same thing and send the same texts to each girl. If the girls the guy is interested in are friends, then they will most likely discuss the guy and realize that they are being played. Not only will they be hurt, they will be furious. Guys should either be honest or stick to one girl. There is nothing worse than having multiple females mad at you...
